Introduction to Soul Collage© at the ArtsCenter

Soul Collage© is an intuitive and creative collage making process. Using simple materials, Soul Collagers create a personalized deck of cards with each card representing a part of their personality or soul. No art experience is needed to make Soul Collage© cards…all that is needed are supplies and a willingness to be open and learn about yourself. In this introductory workshop, participants will learn about the origins of Soul Collage©, the four Soul Collage© suits and their meaning and how Soul Collage© can be used as a therapeutic tool. Participants will also have the opportunity to create their own Soul Collage© cards as well as experience a Soul Collage© reading. All materials will be provided for this workshop; however, if you would like to bring photos of family, friends, pets, etc to use in your collages, please feel free to. Register here.

Repairing the Broken Bowl

Repairing the Broken Bowl

Repairing the Broken Bowl is a daylong workshop based on the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi and the ancient practice of kintsugi. These approaches treat the cycle of breakage and repair as a part of an object's history rather than something to be discarded or disguised. The maker must move through a process of confronting change, accepting change, and deciding how to move forward with what is left. Join us for this insightful experience where you will have the opportunity to decorate and repair a broken bowl (which will be provided to you) and how to make meaning out of brokenness. Be mindful that this process is likely to bring up strong emotions surrounding loss and care is taken to preserve the safety of the group. Participants are asked to bring a journal.
